cast of characters

Bobby Child

A polite, well-meaning New York banker who secretly believes he was born to headline Broadway. Unfortunately, he’s been sent to Deadrock, Nevada, to foreclose on a struggling theater. Fortunately (for us), Bobby makes one small decision that snowballs into a full-blown identity mix-up involving tap shoes, romance, and a very confused town.

Polly Baker

The sharp-witted postmistress of Deadrock—and the only single woman for miles. Polly is practical, independent, and unimpressed by smooth talkers. She’s fighting to save her father’s beloved Gaiety Theatre and has no time for nonsense… which is awkward, because nonsense has just arrived in town.

Bela Zangler

A big-deal Broadway producer with an even bigger personality. When Bobby impersonates him to win Polly’s attention (what could possibly go wrong?), the real Zangler eventually shows up—leading to double takes, mistaken identities, and maximum mayhem.

Irene Roth

Bobby’s sophisticated New York fiancée. She’s elegant, dramatic, and absolutely not planning to lose her man to a small-town postmistress. When Irene heads west to reclaim Bobby, she brings high society flair straight into saloon territory.

Lank Hawkins

The gruff owner of the Deadrock Saloon who wants to buy the Gaiety Theatre and turn it into something far less… theatrical. He’s practical, stubborn, and used to getting his way—until romance and show business complicate his plans.

Everett Baker

Polly’s warm-hearted father and proud owner of the Gaiety Theatre. He believes in art, community, and putting on a show—even when the audience is mostly confused cowboys.

Lottie Child

Bobby's wealthy, strong-willed mother who has very specific plans for her son's future. Spoiler Alert: Tap dancing in Nevada was not on her vision board.

The Zangler Follies

A sparkling troupe of Broadway dancers who suddenly find themselves in the Wild West. Expect feathers, flair, and high kicks in completely unexpected desert settings.

The Deadrock Cowpokes

The local residents of the town (Custa-Rose, Moose, Pete, and company). They’re rugged, loyal, and deeply bewildered by big city life…and choreography—but they try their best.

Eugene and Patricia Fodor

A delightfully proper British couple touring the American West to write a travel guide. They observe the unfolding chaos with anthropological fascination—and impeccable manners.
